The contemporary youth - an icon of energy and vibrancy reflects all shades from black to white. The persona of youth has undergone stupendous transformation in terms of outlook and ideals in the wake of societal and attitudinal changes. The basic image that is conjured up thinking of youth is a college campus buzzing with activities of outstanding students. The outstanding students is a mixture of those students standing out and those who actually out stand. Both have their own aspiration, for some want to reach the stars and some are happy only to see stars in the day. However, there are more dimensions to this localized bundle of energy than meets the eye.
 

A few days back Stephen Hawking raised a doubt, “Can humans sustain another 100 years?” Though certain natural calamities are beyond human control, in the context of present global socio-political conditions also our future looked very grim to me. But my fears were allayed and a new ray of hope arose with what I saw the youth involved in.

Today’s youth is highly informative, aware and fast paced. We associate a number of adjectives with youth like enthusiastic, fun-loving, outgoing, independent and even reckless at times. But the word “responsible” does not seem to be closely identified with the young and hip. However, it is right there that the transformation is visible. They are not blind to the world around them that has millions of deprived and downtrodden people.
