We as Indians have heard of the “Janma Kundli” which is a scientific chart drawn with mathematical precision based upon the exact time that we were born. It takes into account all planetary positions and their astrological influences at different stages in our lives.
Hence, the people who have mastered the art of deciphering the “Janma Kundli” can accurately predict our Past, Present and Future .our character traits, the milestones in our lives just by looking at our “Janma Kundli”.Bhrigu Samhita is the art of preparing the chart and we can safely call it the Indian counter part of the zodiac signs. A Saint called Bhrigu who live during the Vedic period created it. The Vedas which are now acknowledged even in the western world for their significance were written by Lord Brahma. Saint Bhrigu was the first compiler of the prophetic astrology i.e. the fifth Veda of the Treta Yuga.Saint Bhrigu disturbed by the financial status of his people decided to pray to Goddess Laxmi (the goddess of prosperity).
He did “Tapasya” meaning the highest form of meditation and the deity appeared before him. She suggested that he formulate a mystical science with which to make accurate predictions if he wanted to financially uplift his class. Long, tedious but dedicated hours of research led him to the mathematical side of astrology and he created almost 5 lakh horoscopes based on the lives of the people he studied, and a vast database was created. These horoscopes were created based upon the planetary position of the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. With the help of Lord Ganesha, Lord Bhrigu gave his predictions on different types of horoscopes and this great work is named “Bhrigu Samhita” Later on it became popular as Astrology or Jyotish and the person who reads the chart is known as the Jyotshi .Unfortunately, during the Mughal and other foreign invasions the Brahmin, community was dispersed all over India. The aders fascinated by this mystical and inexplicable way of fortune telling incarcerated these prime assets of the bhramins so much so that they were taken to places like Europe and other Arabic countries. Now only 2 lakh of the Bhrigu Samhita remain with the Brahmin community.
These horoscopes were further lost by the destruction of the Nalanda University Library. In addition, some of the authenticity of the Bhrigu Samhita is lost because of plagiarism by some tricksters.Bhrigu Samhita is a dissertation on Vedic Astrology by Maharishi Bhrigu and his “Shishya” (students in the lineage. This study culminated in to the birth of a science Shastra ) of determining the quality of time (Hora) and is the Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra. The primary database comes from the Rasi Chart (12 signs) and the ten variables of Navagraha and Lagna (i.e. Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Rahu, Ketu, and Lagna).
The total permutations/possible horoscope charts that can be drawn with this are about 45 Million. Symbolically all creation begins from Venus which represents Semen, the seed of all creation. The seed of this vast knowledge was sown by Maharishi Bhrigu also the father of Sukracharya (Venus). Jyotish is considered the fifth Veda compiled during the Treta yuga.(the first four are Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva Veda name after the Maharishi heard them from the mouth of Lord Brahma)
