The Scientific form of the Vedic Caste System

The fantasies of a man are of different kinds and everybody does act only in conformity with them. The fantasies are created by the man himself.

Some ill-conceived persons have unreasonably formed an opinion that there is nothing which is controlled by a man and he acts only ;under influence of the inspiration from the Almighty. Such a concept has very badly damaged the Indian human society. The God has bestowed on everyone the Sense of Perception (Jnanendriya) and the Sense of Action (Karmendriya) along with mind and wisdom and, thus, made him free towards action. The God is the supreme Justice and he does not discriminate among creatures. Lord Srikrishna has also said in the Geeta that everybody is one’s own creator.

To carry forward the nobility of the Society, the excellence of a man has been classified in the following four categories:-

  • Brahmin

  • Kshatriya

  • Vaishya

  • Shudra

Brahmin:- Brahma is the synonym of God, the father of all creatures of the Universe. He is the supreme Judge and absolutely devoid of any kind of discrimination. He treats everyone equally. Anybody who possesses these Godly merits and values, is known as Brahmin. The reason for terming a Brahmin as mouth of the body is that mind, brain and mouth are the most prominent parts of the human body. It is the mind or brain with which he thinks and it is the mouth with which he speaks. Owing to the pensiveness he is called a man. Hence, the pensive and thoughtful persons were given the title of Brahmin. In fact, pensiveness has a major contribution in upliftment of the humanity. That is why such persons commanded the highest respects in the Society. These persons were mainly engaged in gaining knowledge through studies, teaching the people and scattering the knowledge all around.

Kshatriya:- Kshatriya means a person who defends others from perils. They are responsible to save the families, the society and the country from perpetrators, terrorists and extremists. Thus, a Kshatriya is a brave, a saviour and a defender. The Kshatriyas were termed as the arms of the human body as mainly arms and hands are used for defence. After getting trained in arms and ammunitions they would defend their families, societies and the country within the rules enshrined in the Vedas and the Shastras. Even if they had to sacrifice their lives to defend the humanity and to devastate the perpetrators, it was a matter to feel proud over for the Kshatriyas.

Vaishya: – Material resources are required to perform the journey of the human body. The person who had a major contributory role in providing clothes, foodgrains, gold, silver and house etc. were known as the Vaishya. This community was termed as the waist or back of the human body which is regarded as the strongest part of the physical structure. If somebody happens to be at a sudden heavy loss, it is said that his back is broken. Thus, as the back is the main base of the human body, wealth is the base of the family, the society and the country. The people who would contribute the most enhancing the strength through wealth or money, were termed as Vaishya.

Shudra:- The people who lacked power to think, could not practice in education etc. and whose lives were based on providing services to others and on physical labour were known as Shudra. In spite of being devoid of knowledge and education, they were regarded a necessary and integral part of the society because they provided necessary services to the other three classes of the society i.e. to the Brahmins, Kshatriya and Vaishya. Although they were empty of knowledge and education, the society could not run even a single step without them. That is why they were regarded as the feet of the human body.

On the basis of the qualities of the above-mentioned four kinds of work, the persons were known in the Society as Brahmin, Khatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. For all the four classes of the society the best way to attain the God and the Salvation was to perceive them in their own areas of work. Lord Srikrishna has sermonized in the holy Geeta that a Shudra who perceives the God through his own work, is entitled to attainment of the God, the Salvation and the prestige in the society at an equal footing with a Brahmin, a kshatriya and a Shudra.

If there was person who has blended merits and values of all the four categories – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra, he was given a title of a great man (Mahapurush), a great human-being (Mahamanav), a sage etc. Even many illiterate people of the Shudra category used to achieve these titles on the basis of excellence in their work.

Question No.1:- Are Brahmins, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra descending by inheritance?

Answer:- It is not like this. These are the four kinds of eligibilities or qualifications that are not hereditary. Also Lord Krishna has said in the Geeta that all are Shudra (empty of knowledge) by birth. On this earth he has himself to decide on what he wants to be – Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra or what he does not want to be. Whatever a man happens to be is solely due to him. This makes clear that in the Vedic age, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra were free from descending by inheritance. India, that time, was called a golden bird. The Grade (Category) system such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th in modern age is somewhat transformation of the same system.

Question No.2 :- When did Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra come to be hereditary?

Answer:-After the Vedic age and the era of the Upanishadas this began to change slowly. Some persons with vested interests authored such books in Sanskrit which in the fast changing scenario, were taken as a form of religion. Since then, India known as Aryavarta began to lose its excellence and nobility. In a process taking its shape slowly, the society got entangled in a whirlpool of Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra and thus, the holy land of Aryavarta- a country of matchless braves continued to fall by leaps and bounds.

Question No.3:-What was the impact of the hereditary caste system on Society?

Answer:- On account of the hereditary caste system, the society was divided in castes, creeds and religions. The respects till now commanded through knowledge, brevity and virtuous deeds began to reach and glorify the greedy and the sinners. The virtual caliber and abilities were being disrespected. The pensiveness that was termed as a head or brain of the human body, got deeply engaged in untouchability. And thus,, India, the Aryavarta known as the golden bird on earth came to a certain type of devastation.

Question No.4:- How can this be rectified now?

Answer:- The saints and great reformers of the modern age like Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Swami Vivekanand tried their utmost to bring in the pure outlook in the society. To some extent, it did have its effect on Society, but it still needs great changes. If the discrimination based on caste, creed and religion is forgotten and the Indian society comes into being as a single entity, it will undoubtedly, be able to face any challenges and circumstances. In such a situation, all the Indians will start loving one another. The national unity and integrity will get stronger. The atmosphere of fear and fright will end yielding place to brevity and courage. It will not be then difficult to drag on the extremists and terrorists and to crush them.

The sense of mutual understanding and fraternity will get so stronger that all 365 days of the year will make a feel of fervor and gaiety as on the occasion of Diwali. Hence, it is essential that the scientific outlook of the caste-system is propagated on a large scale among masses to convey them the message that a teacher is a teacher, a doctor is a doctor, an engineer is an engineer, a peasant is a peasant and a solider is a solider. This means to say that only the work or activity is a recognition or identification of a person and this identification is the chief and original message of the spirituality, the Vedas, the Upanishads and the Gita.If even today, the Indian society continues to maintain the lifestyle leading to downfall, the fundamental spirituality of India will gradually cease to be. If the world is to be taught the virtual education of the purified humanity, knowledge and brevity and also if the humanity is to be safeguarded, we can not live without propagating the true scientific principles of the spiritualism. In case it is not followed, heart and soul, the men as demons will continue to spread in the society the malice and hatred on the basis of caste and creed and to crush the humanity for the sake of furthering their own vested interests.
